Google lens Assistant n Fotos can now identify cat and dog breeds

At Mobile World Congress 2018, Google announced a wider rollout for Lens in both Assistant and Photos, and new features like improved support for recognizing animals. This ability to recognize different cat and dog breeds is now going live for users.   
Previously, when running an image of a dog or cat through Lens in Assistant or Photos, Google would generically reply with “looks like a cat.” In February, Google announced that as part of the wider release, Lens would be picking up “improved support for recognizing common animals and plants, like different dog breeds and flowers” in “the coming weeks.”  
  
This functionality is now starting to appear for users. In a Photos-related announcement detailing other animal features for the image and backup service as part of National Pet Day, Google notes that Lens for both Android and iOS can identify breeds and provide more information.  
  
If Lens isn’t positive on a match, it will offer up a carousel of possible results, noting “I think one of these breeds is a match.” Selecting one will load the appropriate card with more details.
