June 12 is significant for democracy day. it was formally May 29, until the 2018 regime of the present President of the Federation of Nigeria in person of General Mohammed  Buhari changed it to June 12. He also deemed it fit to honor the late Moshood Abiola who was one of the patriots who fought tooth and nail for a free and fair democratic election in 1993
